Milestones
Where we have come from, and the steps that got us here.
BACKSLASH has been working since 2014. These are the steps that shaped how we work now, taken from our Strategic Plan 2026-2030.
Our track record
- 2014. BACKSLASH is founded in Valencia. A youth association set up to widen young people’s opportunities through non-formal education.
- 2014–2025. A way of working of our own. Applied research, co-creation, testing, training and transfer of results: the sequence every project now follows.
- Since 2020. Non-formal education into new sectors. We took our methodologies into higher education and vocational education and training.
- Ongoing. Roots in our own territory. Steady work with municipalities, the Provincial Council of Valencia, comarcal authorities, schools, youth associations and social organisations across Spain.
- Ongoing. European and international networks. Members of SexSense, Volunteurope, CIVICUS and CONNECT International.
- 2025. Overseas Countries and Territories. A new line of work, starting with Greenland, Saint-Martin and New Caledonia.
- 2025. A seat at international tables. The second United Nations World Summit for Social Development, the 62nd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, and the Forum of the Countries of Latin America and the Caribbean on Sustainable Development.
- 2026–2030. A strategy to hold it together. Four strategic areas, eleven thematic priorities and a measurement framework with targets for 2030.
