AI Literacy for Disinformation-Resilient Youth Work

Objectives

• Strengthen AI literacy and disinformation resilience in youth work by identifying competence gaps among youth workers.
• Develop and pilot a practice-oriented training toolkit on AI literacy and critical thinking.
• Produce validated, multilingual resources ready for uptake across Europe.
• Translate practitioner experience into structured recommendations for the development of youth work in the context of digital transformation.

What BACKSLASH does in this project

BACKSLASH leads the design of the Pilot Training Toolkit, coordinating the curriculum process and ensuring the pedagogical coherence and practical usability of the materials, and leads the work package that pilots and refines them: each partner runs pilot trainings for young people and youth workers, and BACKSLASH coordinates the refinement of the final training manual. It builds on the AI4Youth curriculum it coordinated in 2023 to 2025 and carries the largest share of the policy and practice work package.

Activities

• Competence mapping to identify AI literacy gaps in youth work in the partner countries.
• Design of a Pilot Training Toolkit, led by BACKSLASH, based on the mapping results.
• Pilot trainings for young people and youth workers in each partner country and an online train-the-trainer event.
• Consolidation of the piloted experience into a multilingual Training Manual and an Online Repository of Good Practices.
• Structured stakeholder consultation feeding a Policy Study with recommendations on youth work and AI.
