Future Me project progress: transnational meeting and training in Italy

In September, the project Future Me: Equipping youth workers and young people with skills for the future reached two important milestones: the organisation of a Transnational Project Meeting (TPM) and the subsequent delivery of the “Future Me: Skills for the Future” training course in Italy.

Over the previous months, Backslash, together with the other partner organisations, has been working collaboratively on the design and development of a training methodology for youth work professionals, focused on the competences needed to face future challenges.

As part of this process, a TPM was held in mid-September in Valeggio sul Mincio, Italy. This in-person meeting allowed the consortium to review and finalise the structure, content and methodological approach of the training, as well as to coordinate the final steps prior to its implementation. The meeting also served to align the next phases of the project and strengthen cooperation among partners.

Following the TPM, the Future Me: Skills for the Future training took place from 16 to 21 September, bringing together 20 youth professionals from four European countries. The programme was built around a set of key competences inspired by the World Economic Forum’s research on future skills, with a strong focus on abilities such as adaptability, self-awareness, critical thinking, collaboration and civic engagement.

Throughout the week, participants worked with non-formal education methodologies, combining practical sessions, reflection spaces and collaborative work, always linked to their everyday youth work practice.

In the next phase of the project, participants will implement local multiplier activities, transferring the tools and insights developed during the training to their local contexts. These activities will contribute to further testing and refining the methodology, which is expected to be finalised by the end of the year.
