Future Me – Equipping Youth workers and young people with skills for the Future

Future Me is a 24-month Erasmus+ cooperation partnership project (KA220-YOU), coordinated by Gemeinsam leben und lernen in Europa (Germany) with partners from Spain (BACKSLASH), Romania (CVCN), and Italy (Joint). It aims to strengthen the capacity of youth workers and young people to adapt to future challenges by developing critical skills through innovative, inclusive, and accessible training formats.

The project seeks to improve the quality and innovation of youth work, support professional development among youth workers, and empower them to deliver future-oriented training to young people. Through a tested Train-the-Trainer methodology, piloted internationally in Italy with 20 youth work professionals from all partner countries and subsequently replicated by each partner in their national context, the project has reached more than 60 youth workers and brought the Future Me approach to over 250 young people across partner countries. This process has also produced a comprehensive, practice-informed Handbook that serves as the backbone of the Future Me training approach.

The Handbook is available in English, Spanish, German, Romanian, and Italian, structured in 13 modules, each addressing a specific skill or skill cluster through both a theoretical framework and practical methodologies ready to use in youth work settings.

The next phase of the project focuses on translating this training experience into a multilingual eLearning platform, making the Future Me methodology accessible to youth workers regardless of their location and expected to reach at least 100 additional youth work professionals.

Future Me addresses key European priorities, including digital transformation, youth participation, and civic engagement. It builds on previous initiatives by the partners and fills a gap in holistic, future-readiness training, with transnational reach and the potential to be integrated into youth work structures at local, national, and European levels.
