Europeans Against Fake News

The Europeans Against Fake News (EAF) project aims to empower young Europeans by developing critical thinking skills and digital literacy, enabling them to identify, analyse and combat misinformation in the digital environment. This project, co-funded by the European Union and led by youth organisations from Belgium, Slovenia, Spain and Greece, aims to curb the spread of fake news while promoting a culture of responsible online analysis and communication.

The project takes a creative and interactive approach to connect with young people and other stakeholders. Activities included a 360-degree virtual exhibition, where memes explored the narratives behind fake news, and escape challenges designed to teach how to recognise and dismantle misinformation. In addition, flashmobs were organised in Slovenia that drew public attention to the importance of critical thinking, and podcasts were recorded in Spain, available free of charge, offering discussions on how to address this phenomenon. Digital graffiti was also created in Croatia to convey key messages in innovative ways.

The results of the project include the involvement of thousands of young Europeans, the creation of visual and audio materials that spread the message against fake news, and the generation of guidelines and policy recommendations to engage local authorities and other organisations in this cause. Through these initiatives, the project has strengthened the capacities of young people and laid the groundwork for greater collective awareness of the importance of verified information and critical analysis in the digital sphere.
